GOOD LUCK OPERA
Norwegian browser maker Opera ASP took a page from an American playbook yesterday as it complained to European Union antitrust regulators that Microsoft Corp. stifles competition.
In a complaint, Opera claimed Microsoft continues to abuse its dominant position on the desktop by tying its Internet Explorer (IE) browser to Windows, and hinders interoperability by not following accepted Web standards. It asked the EU's Competition Commission to force Microsoft into separating IE from Windows, and to demand that IE support several standards.
Mr. Gates, your response?

SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE!
Well, Senator George Mitchell's long awaited report on steriod use in baseball has finally been released and in it he names 80+ players who have either used, purchased or sought to purchase anabolic steroids and human growth hormone. Besides Barry Bonds, here are some players with a tiny problem as of 2:00pm EST yesterday:
Roger Clemens Andy Petite
Brian Roberts Gary Sheffield
Miguel Tejada Eric Gagne
Larry Bigbee Mo Vaughan
Denny Nagle Lenny Dykstra
For fear of taking up too much space here, suffice to say no one should be shocked. Mad or dissappointed sure, but shocked, no. When baseball is being run by a boob like Bud Selig who gets worked by the owners and players union like a puppet, no one should be shocked. Nice job Bud!

HEY BUD! HAVE A NICE DAY!
Judgment day arrived for baseball's steroids era, with the Mitchell report set to be released and posted on the Internet for all to see.
The first name to emerge Thursday was seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens.
ESPN.com reported that Brian McNamee, a former trainer for the Yankees and Clemens, said information he gave Mitchell on supplying the pitcher with steroids is in the report. The Web site, citing an unidentified source close to the trainer, said McNamee told investigators he supplied Clemens with steroids.
Read on Mr. Selig...

NAOMI CAMPBELL MUGGED AT LED ZEP REUNION CONCERT
Would it be an event if Naomi Campbell weren’t somehow at the center of things? While Led Zeppelin reunited in London to memorialize Atlantic Records’ Ahmet Ertegun, the supermodel was in a luxury box at the O2 Arena getting mugged.
As the show ended, she was seen arguing with a security guard and yelling that, "my handbag was stolen, my handbag was stolen!"

BANG YOUR HEAD
Two weeks after news of his death first made headlines, the autopsy results on late Quiet Riot frontman Kevin DuBrow — who was found in his Las Vegas home November 25, dead at age 52 — were released Monday (December 10), according to The Associated Press. DuBrow reportedly died of an accidental cocaine overdose.
It's hard to believe that an aging, hair metal rocker succumbed to drug overdose, isn't it?

RIP EVEL
Mourners began gathering Monday for the funeral of Evel Knievel, the motorcycle daredevil who helped put his hometown on the map with death-defying stunts and near-fatal crashes that made him an international icon.
Fireworks illuminated the night sky with bursts of Knievel's trademark red, white and blue on Sunday when a hearse carrying his body arrived at the Butte Civic Center, the town's largest indoor venue, for a public viewing.
No word as to whether Kanye was there...doh!

A bottle of whisky distilled in 1926 sold for $54,000 Saturday at New York's first liquor auction since Prohibition.
A second bottle - straight rye whisky made in 2003 from a recipe used by America's first President, George Washington - sold to an anonymous bidder for $6,000 at the Christie's auction.
Wonder what you mix with $54K hooch?

OOPS!
Ernie Els blew a two-stroke lead on the final hole of the Alfred Dunhill Championship, handing John Bickerton a one-shot victory by hitting two balls into the water.
Els had a 1-over 73 after his triple bogey on the par-5 18th. Bickerton shot a 68 to finish at 13-under 275.
On his second shot, Els went for the green but the ball splashed into the water surrounding the green. The South African took a drop, but then went over the island green at the Leopard Creek Country Club.
His sent his next drop within six feet of the pin but missed the putt for a double bogey that would have forced a playoff.
