So Get This...

Chris Brown told Robin Roberts on Good Morning America that he feels terrible about his actions with then girlfriend Rhianna. Brown said, "I am really hurting inside" and some other stupid things.

Hey Chris! We're supposed to feel sorry for YOU? Did you need to go to the hospital because your face looked like Gerry Clooney's after a fight with Ali?

You're an idiot....to the Ranch you go!

Facebook Strikes Again!

A Canadian woman on sick leave for depression said Monday she would fight an insurance company's decision to cut her benefits after her agent found photos on Facebook of her vacationing, at a bar and at a party.

Nathalie Blanchard said Monday she was diagnosed with major depression and was receiving monthly sick-leave benefits until payments dried up this fall.

When Blanchard called her insurance provider, Manulife, to find out why, she says she was told the Facebook photos showed she was able to work.

Slow Down A!

Minnesota Vikings All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson was cited for speeding after police clocked him driving 109 mph on a highway in suburban Minneapolis.

Edina police spokeswoman Molly Anderson says Peterson was pulled over just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Peterson was driving his BMW on eastbound Minnesota Highway 62 in a 55-mph zone. Anderson says he was given a citation and allowed to drive away. She says there was no accident and that it appears to be a "very routine" traffic stop.

Peterson tells The Associated Press he didn't realize how fast he was going. He said he "got a little speeding ticket" and said he planned to be more careful.

The stop happened the night before Peterson ran for 85 yards and a touchdown, but fumbled twice, in a 36-10 victory over Chicago.

No More Flying Dutchman on the Gridiron

Hofstra University dropped football because of costs and fading interest and will use the $4.5 million spent annually on the team on scholarships and other priorities.

The board of trustees voted unanimously Wednesday night to shut the program, which had been in existence since the school's founding in 1937.

"The cost of the football program, now and in the future, far exceeds the return possible," Hofstra president Stuart Rabinowitz said Thursday. He added that despite Hofstra having sent several players to the NFL, the program does not attract enough national attention.

"Given that, along with the low level of interest, financial support and attendance among our students, our alumni and the community, the choice was painful, but clear."

C'mon Ronnie, Enough Already!

Aging rocker Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones was released on bail Thursday after being arrested for possible domestic assault.

Wood, known for his stinging guitar riffs and raucous private life, was picked up by police Wednesday evening near his home in Esher in southern England.

"I can confirm that there was an incident last night and that Ronnie Wood was arrested," said David Rigg, Wood's spokesman.

The arrest comes on the heels of Wood's highly publicized divorce last month. His marriage collapsed after he started dating a young Russian woman.

A young Russian woman? Now there's a real shocker.

Ohhhh Boy!

The Hoff Speaks

According to David "The Hoff" Hasselhoff himself, Knightrider;

  • did NOT have an alcohol related seizure,
  • was NOT admitted to a psychiatric ward and
  • IS completely healthy
Well I believe him, don't you?

What's It Going to be Bobby

According to reports, Florida State University has given Bobby Bowden, the second winningest coach in NCAA College Football history, two options regarding the 2010 season...1) If he returns he must accept a reduced role and leave major decision making to coach-in-waiting Jimbo Fisher or, 2) Retire.

I have two comments....first, it certainly doesn't sound like the way to end a career in which from 1987-2000 he notched 14 consecutive top-4 finishes, won two national championships and coached two Heisman Trophy winners. Second, are you serious? JIMBO?

Ok Listen Up!

Tiger Woods had a car accident. He hit a fire hydrant and a tree.
That's it. Enough.

How Can This Be??

Oprah Winfrey will announce on her show on Friday that when her contract expires in September 2011 that she will be giving up her afternoon talk show.

My question is this...who will inform house frau's across this great land why they should hate their husbands once O packs it in? May I recommend Kate Gosselin to the network execs?

Oh This is Great

Remember Carrie Prejean? That's right she's the "Miss Christian Values" who was lampooned (and rightly so) after stating her views on same-sex marriage. Well get this....she's apparently also a porn star!

According to E! Online there has been confirmation of a sex tape starring Prejean and it is currently being shopped on the web.

Interesting indeed, don't you think?

The VH Bros Have New Wheels

According to TMZ, Eddie and Alex Van Halen picked up a couple of new whips today...matching silver Audi 8's.

Guess the last tour made a couple sheckles as these babies start at $120,000!

Can't Wait

According to the AP, Green Day will perform on Carson Daly's Late Show on New Years' Eve. They are calling the performance "The Irrelevent Rockin' New Years' Eve".

Seriously, must be a huge booking for both parties...who even knew Carson still had a show and the band, well...whatever.

Da Prof is stoked!

The Hoff Falls Off

According to TMZ, David "I'm loved in Germany" Hasselhoff has fallen off the wagon and made a drunken spectacle of himself in a casino in Canada.

Is any one surprised at this? I mean, who knew Canadians had casinos?

Chris Brown Interview

In a recent interview with MTV, Chris Brown said that he is unsure how the public percieves him and is concerned about his image.

Perhaps Chris should have thought about that before treating Rhianna like an Everlast Speed Bag.

PGA Tour Journeyman Doug Barron is the first player to test positive for performance enhancing drugs and get this, is immediately suspended for 1 year from play on the PGA, European, Asian, South African and Canadian Tours.

Perhaps Mr. Selig can learn something from this about dealing with these sort of things. Oh and let me remind eveyone that the PGA also has a players union. Wishful thinking!

BURRESS SENTENCED

One-time Super Bowl hero Plaxico Burress was sentenced to two years in prison Tuesday for violating New York's stringent gun laws and was immediately taken into custody following his hearing.

Burress agreed to a plea deal last month and pleaded guilty to a lesser firearms charge. The charges stemmed from an incident late last fall, in which Burress accidentally shot himself in the thigh at a Manhattan nightclub with a gun that had not been licensed in New York.

Enough Already!

Ok...this is getting regoddamndiculous!

Kate "I'm Only Famous Because I Gave Birth to a Litter" Gosslen is shooting a pilot for a new talk show. She is teaming up with Paula Deen, that annoying Granny Clampett chef on the Food Network to give us yet another self-serving, absolutely horrendous piece of TV refuse.

This madness must stop!! Enough with TV Executives turning people who, in my neighborhood would be considered a little off, into celebrities. This woman would have the house that mothers would ban their children from.

My only hope is that Kate's cholesterol will spike dramatically from all of the animal fat Paula uses in her cooking and she'll be forced into retirement.

My head is going to explode!

The Hoosiers will play Penn State on November 20, 2010 in the House that Snyder built and will be compensated handsomely for it - provided it sells 7,000 of the 91,000 tickets in the joint. What a joke.

It's About Time

According to Reuters, a french town has banned elephants from bathing on its beaches for fear that animals excrement could pollute the water and pose a health hazard to other swimmers.

I don't know about you, but that certainly is a downer. There is nothing quite like a playful, frolicking elephant splashing in the water next to you.

I've got an idea that would make anyone's time at the beach more enjoyable. Pass a law that requires bathing and the removal of underarm hair on women. Or, I don't know, ban the wearing of speedos on Jean Pierre and his amis.

MULLET BOY DEFENDS MILEY'S GENTLEMEN'S CLUB PERFORMANCE

After Miley Cyrus performed her new single "Party in the U.S.A." at the Teen Choice Awards on August 10 — while dancing around what appeared to be a stripper pole — the singer garnered criticism about the performance, not least from Disney, the company that airs "Hannah Montana" and releases her recordings.

But her dad, Billy Ray, is coming to the defense of his 16-year-old daughter and the performance that had everyone talking. "You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people," Billy Ray told Access Hollywood. "She loves singing [and] songwriting."

He added that he tells his kids to do what they think is right, no matter what other people might have to say about their decisions. "I always tell her to love what you're doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion," he said.

BURRESS FOLLOW UP

As a follow-up to yesterdays post, along with pleading guilty, Plexiglass Burress also agrees to a 2-year sentence as part of the plea agreement. Have fun Plex....twit!

A NOT SO PERFECT SEASON

Memphis will be forced to vacate the record 38 victories from its Final Four season of 2007-08 under former coach John Calipari because of NCAA violations, The Commercial Appeal reported.

The newspaper, citing an unidentified source close to the situation, said on its Web site Wednesday night the NCAA will release findings of its investigation Thursday. The Commercial Appeal said it was unaware of any penalties beyond this season.

The NCAA investigated whether someone took the SAT exam for a player on that Final Four team. Memphis was notified of potential violations in January and met with the governing body in June.

The NCAA planned a conference call for Thursday afternoon, and Memphis president Shirley Raines told The Associated Press the school would follow with a news conference.

BURRESS PLEADS GUILTY TO GUN CHARGE

Here's a real shocker. Plexiglass Burress has pled guilty to possessing the gun that shot him in the leg at a NYC nightlclub. He will be sentenced on September 22nd and the prosecution is asking for 2 years in the poke.

Did he really have a choice. "No it wasn't mine, I was holding it for a friend."

NFL Commish Tougher than Judge

Roger Goodell, NFL Commisioner, suspended Dante Stallworth for the entire 2009 Season handing down a sentence 341 days longer than the judge who heard the manslaughter case originally.

Stallworth served only 24 days for killing a pedestrian with his Bentley after a night of partying in Miami.

Goodell however felt that Stallworth's crime warranted more than 24 days in the slammer and said that the crime deserved an entire year away from the game without pay.

Good job Rog!!!

RIP Mr. Paul

Les Paul, guitar pioneer, has died at the age of 94.

Eagles Sign Vick

The City of Brotherly Love has a new football player to wrap their arms around...Michael Vick.

That's right - the very same team who'se stadium boasts its own jail because of it's calm and unruly fans has brought in the man who served 2 years in the federal pen for funding an elaborate dog fighting operation in Virginia. Now this should be interesting.

I've always believed that Philly fans are the most accepting in all of professional sports. I mean where else can a a fan get tossed off the mezzanine level for wearing a Giants jersey?

I'm sure it will turn out just fine.

Mullet Boy Must Be So Proud

Last night on the Teen Choice Awards, Miley Cyrus performed her single "Party in the USA" complete with an elaborate stage show which included....a stripper pole which the 16 year old handled with the ease of a Lumberyard II employee.

I can only imagine the pride that Billy Ray felt when watching his little muffin do her best Jenna Jameson impersonation in front of a few million adoring pre-teen fans.

Nice work Mullet Boy.

03/25/09 Show Playlist

Well, it wasn't intended to be a covers show, it just turned out to be a lot of them! I don't normally bother including the album titles in the playlists, but since there are a lot of obscure and worthwhile covers in this show, I thought I'd at least make it easier for you to track them down and buy them! Yes, as much as I hate the RIAA and SoundExchange, you SHOULD be buying your music to support the artists that produce it, if not the lawyers that actually keep most of the money...

Anyway, we found a lot of good stuff this time out, tapping tributes to Warren Zevon, Bruce Springsteen, Lowell George (Little Feat in case you don't know, which would be sad), The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith and The Beatles. Check 'em out:

The Wallflowers - Lawyers, Guns and Money - Enjoy Every Sandwich
Los Lobos - Johnny 99 - Badlands: A Tribute to Bruce Springsteen
Eddie Money - Rock n Roll Doctor - Rock n Roll Doctor: A Tribute to Lowell George
Swamp Cabbage - More Booty with Buddah - Honk
Bruce Springsteen - Radio Nowhere - Magic
Johnnie Taylor - Who's Making Love - Stax 50th Anniversary Celebration
Little Richard - Brown Sugar - Cover You: A Tribute to the Rolling Stones
Bonnie Raitt - Cold, Cold, Cold - Rock n Roll Doctor: A Tribute to Lowell George
Aretha Franklin - You Can't Always Get What You Want - Cover You: A Tribute to the Rolling Stones
The Vaughn Brothers - The Telephone Song - Family Style
The Felice Brothers - Frankie's Gun - The Felice Brothers
Heart - Straight On - Essential Heart
Jackson Browne & Bonnie Raitt - Poor Poor Pitiful Me - Enjoy Every Sandwich
Lang, Hunter, Ronson, Pappalardi - Silent Movie - The Secret Sessions
The Byrds - So You Wanna Be A Rock 'n Roll Star - Monterey International Pop Festival
Marshall Crenshaw & Sugar Blue - Big Ten Inch Record - Sweet Emotion: Songs of Aerosmith
Black Crowes - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - I Am Sam Soundtrack
The Silos - Let's Take Some Drugs and Drive Around - Grooves #3
Chris Duarte Group - More Boogie - Vantage Point
Cowboy Junkies - Run For Your Life - This Bird Has Flown
Cowboy Junkies - Horse in the Country - Black Eyed Man
Sam Moore & Billy Gibbons - If I Had No Loot - Overnight Sensational

Now there are some non-covers in the show since we didn't set out to do a covers show, or, quite frankly, prepare much... We can't help but play Swamp Cabbage because they're great and we need other people to know that. If you haven't heard the Byrds version of Rock n' Roll Star that they did at Monterey Pop, you need to. It's running about 3,000 miles an hour and seems like everyone must have collapsed at the end of it. The drummer is playing in 12/4 time or something! One might suspect he was more than just 'excited' to be there...

I'm not sure when we became cover freaks. I think it snuck up on us while we were busily scraping the mold off of some ancient 45s that were donated to the station. Ultimately, I blame the 45 of Judas Priest covering Johnny B. Goode. I don't know why, I just do. Deal with it.

Eric Johnson - Paperback Writer
Jason & The Scorchers - 19th Nervous Breakdown
Susan Tedeschi - Back to the River
Townes Van Zandt - Racing in the Streets
Black Crowes - Horsehead
Heart - Barracuda
Queen - Still Burnin

3/11/09 Show Playlist

Well, it's about time I posted up some of the recent playlists... I know I've been slacking, sue me.

Our show on the 11th of March was dedicated to Funk. We, ok I, was in a mood to shake off the foul weather, bring out the sun and start bouncing around the studio. It worked. The sun came out, the top got dropped and away we rolled!

We tapped a couple of great obscurities too - including Cork, the band whipped up by Corky Laing of Mountain during a downtime in their touring. We didn't even know what it was when he mentioned it in an interview we were doing over at Ramshead Live. Coach, the little internet scavenger that he is, worked his fingers to the nub and found out more details so we could bring it out of the darkness and into your ears.

Tower of Power - Credit
Fatboy Slim - Rockafeller Skank
Bootsy Collins - Bootzilla
Bootsy Collins - With The Power of Soul
Maceo & All The Kings Men - Funky Women

James Brown - Super Bad Pt. 1
Hiram Bullock - Down the Pike
Curtis Mayfield - Freddie's Dead (Theme from Superfly)
Tower of Power - Soul With A Capital S
Shack - Too Many Lovers
James Brown - Cold Sweat
The Bar-Kays - Holy Ghost
Lyn Collins - Think (About It)
The Spin Doctors - Off My Line
The Temptations - Shakey Ground
Ana Popovic - Downtown
Stevie Wonder - Living for the City
Isaac Hayes - Them from Shaft

Ok, we hit kind of hard on the classic performances from Stax, but so what? How can you not include one of the most politically and funkily active labels of the '70s? We even tapped the great performances from Wattstax and The Professor says you must go watch it. Especially the two guys with the biggest hats you've ever seen.

Yeah, the Spin Doctors aren't really 'Funk' but the track does have a classic groove to it. And Ana Popovic, well... shut up, we'll play her any time we want.

COWBOYS RELEASE OWENS

All together now...whaaa! The Dallas Cowboys, by that I mean Jerry "I Own This Team" Jones, have severed ties with Terrell Owens. During his time in Dallas, Terrell has;

• compaimed about not being thrown to enough
• wept on national TV
• gotten in a fight with an All-Pro tight end
• missed numerous Pre-season practices
• complained about not being thrown to enough
• driven Bill Parcels out of Dallas
• complained about not being thrown to enough
And,
• successfully avoided winning a championhip ring.

Can't help but wonder what lucky team he is going to help out next. Ranch material? Perhaps.
